The artist Yuri Grebenyuk uniquely and masterfully captures the energy and movement of the nature of flowers and landscape, especially the Oriental landscape, where he has lived for more than 53 years. The variety of multi-layered painting is recognizable as the original mixing and superposition of colors creates a sense of the unique effect of the presence of light, color and shape. These colors have their own rhythms, which remain in memory like notes, rhythms and acquire a depth of influence on the subconscious. In paintings, colors work to create an original mixing and the superposition of colors creates a sense of the unique effect of the presence of light, color and shape. In paintings, colors work to create optical movement and emotional storytelling. The artist understands the symphonic power of colors at a high level to create unique, vivid, reminiscent of 3D images on canvas, which leads not only the eye, but the mind and heart into constant movement.
In his paintings, the artist gives the composition a strong dynamism, which is enhanced by a broad, sweeping, multi-layered manner of writing. Color in its various forms with a combination of shades and tones creates harmony, similar to the delicacy and subtlety of musical chords. The canvases attract inner intense expression, confidence and temperament, dynamic and complex connection of color spots. In the paintings there is a sense of the present, alive. Positive energy goes from painting to the viewer, leaving unforgettable impressions.
Yuri Grebenyuk works in various techniques and areas of fine arts: watercolor, oil, graphics, as well as the avant-garde direction. The artist paid special attention to the art of Oriental miniature in his work (1989-2005). Currently, a collection of miniatures in the number of 20 has been preserved paintings. At this time, the artist is in correspondence with the department of the auction house Christie’s in Hong Kong for the presentation of this collection for auction. Throughout many years of his creative career (in 2021 – 53 years), Yuri Grebenyuk has been creating his paintings that resonate in the hearts of many admirers, collectors and art lovers.
In 2021, Yuri Grebenyuk finished work on the painting “1001 Nights” - the story described in the book One Thousand and One Nights — a monument to medieval Arabic and Persian literature, a collection of fairy tales and short stories framed by the story of the Persian king Shahriyar and his wife named Scheherazade. The artist embodied his idea in a painting. This idea, which haunted the artist for several years, was embodied in the painting, where his wife Ekaterina became a co-author. On a canvas of 120*150cm canvas size, the number of kisses of Catherine made with oil paint equals to 1001. There are no analogues in the world. The popularity of this painting is growing every day.
